Nottingham - the big barn...Certainly one of the most impressive barn conversions I've seen - covered in 2010 for a monthly. Four hundred years old but big enough to create three storeys, set in six acres with sweeping views across Nottinghamshire farmland - very impressive. |

Bucks new-buildCommissioned by a lady in her eighties, this is a boldly contemporary design that I covered recently for two titles - a selfbuild monthly (publishing in the 2nd half of 2010), and Essential KBB who featured it in the June issue with a lovely big opening spread. Strikingly attractive house, all light and space, inspiring lines... I waited to shoot the place for two years while delay after delay held up the completion, but well worth it. |

Marrakech 2 roof terrace breakfastI came across this place via a contact in Marrakech who learned about my previous feature there for The Guardian colour supplement. This new one was taken by one of the monthly glossy home-interest titles: it's a gorgeous British-owned riad in the medina of Marakech. Covered the place in early February, a 3-day trip, very busy, very interesting, architecturally and photographically (& gastronomically!) stimulating. |

Marrakech 2 rooftop viewThe house looks due south, to the mountains of the High Atlas. Old & new: minarets, mosques, palms, satellite dishes... |

Teign ValleyVariety is the spice of life. Immediately prior to heading for Marrakech, I finished off a feature for one of the self-build magazines on this impressive Devon home in an idyllic setting. |
|
Teign Valley chickensSet in six acres, this project combines 21stC living with a grassroots lifestyle: everyone with a few Devon acres should keep chickens! |

super farmhouse kitchenCommissioned by EKBB magazine, I trekked off to Yorkshire to a lovely stone farmhouse up in the Peaks. Gorgeous colourful kitchen, great feature, handy publicity for the kitchen manufacturers - whose PR put me onto it originally. |

Thailand beachside developmentThis was a while in gestation, and for a time it looked like I might get out to Phuket to cover the place properly myself - as well as this piece for The Daily Mail I secured a commission from one of the better interiors titles. Alas, the economics were against me, and I had to settle for just the Mail piece, which I illustrated using images provided by the developers. |

Wales, Cardiff area, self-buildCommissioned by Build It magazine, I covered what is possibly the largest self-build home I've seen - three floors and beautifully done, erected in a former railway cutting with a "bridge" for access from the street. Lots of problems with construction and planning, but the owners fought their way through - great project. |
